Special Response Team
The York County Sheriff's Office maintains representation on the Southern Maine Special Response Team (SRT). This regional tactical team consists of police officers and deputies from nine law enforcement agencies within York County which work cooperativly to pool resources and tactical
experience.
The Special Response Team is one of the few teams
in the State of Maine to be a certified tactical team by
the Maine Criminal Justice Academy, and responds to
tactical incidents such as armed barricade situations,
high risk warrant service, assisting with visiting dignitary
protection, K-9 tracks, etc.
The Special Response Team consists of tactical operators,
crisis negotiators, tactical medics, a hazardous materials
specialist and sniper element, all whom deploy and train
together relentlessly. The team also trains together with
other municipal tactical teams in the State of Maine.
