The York County Sheriff’s Office has one of the founding Domestic Violence Units in the State of Maine. The unit originated in 1999 and two members of the Criminal Investigation Division are assigned as the Domestic Violence Investigators.

Domestic Violence Investigators are responsible for domestic violence follow up with victims, provides assistance to victims and families with domestic violence education and outreach programs, case preparation and witness notification for court procedures.

The Domestic Violence Unit works hand and hand with Caring Unlimited to provide assistance to the families affected by domestic violence in York County.
